As the new 9 weeks begins, another project is on its way: self-portraiture! The project is to be done in the same medium as used with the Old Master drawing; so, in my case, Conté crayon. (This will certainly give me a lot of practice with a medium I hated until very recently!) The process of this project will be much the same as the Old Master drawing process - still drawing from an image, still using the same paper and medium, still using Conté - but the main difference here is that this will be the first at-home project of this year. That will be very new for me, as I have never really done a large art project at home before. (I've done little things here and there over the years, but nothing like this.)
My progress as of this point is essentially nonexistent. The only progress I've made, really at all, is taking (several) pictures of myself to see which pose I like best. I wanted my hands to be in the picture, and I wanted to have at least a few decently prominent highlights and shadows in the photo I eventually chose, so after fiddling around with my phone camera for a little while I narrowed it down to the three pictured above. I still don't know which one I'm leaning towards quite yet, and I haven't measured my paper yet, let alone deckled the edges or drawn a grid. Hopefully my progress with this drawing moves much more quickly than that with my Old Master drawing, as I would really like to fully finish my project this time around.
