After a few studio days wasted because 1) I kept forgetting to find a board and 2) once I went and picked one out, I kept forgetting to fix it up for class, I made a lot of progress and can (cautiously) call this sculpture done. I may make a few edits to it here and there, as I still have not had my piece officially critiqued by the class, but there is little else I can imagine doing to it. The only creative decision left is to decide how it will be displayed so that the gold thread is visible to everyone who sees it, as with a cluttered art classroom in the background it is difficult to see in both real life and progress photos.
As for a title, my original plan was to call the sculpture "Cleopatra," as an homage to early ideas I never used that were based off the song Cleopatra. However, I feel like this title might not be the best fit for the idea I eventually chose, and I will have to consider other options before the sculpture is due (April 3rd). Hopefully an idea will come to me, like "Aquarius" did for my AbEx painting, but I can't count on that happening every time I have "title block."
